Polyelectrolyte

Polyelectrolyte is a water soluble polymer carrying ionic charge along the polymer chain; depending upon the charge, these polymers are anionic or cationic.

Available in a wide range of molecular weights and charge densities, are both flocculants as well as de¬flocculants depending upon the molecular weight. A flocculant is essentially a solid liquid separating agent while a de¬flocculant is a dispersing agent.

Both natural and synthetic are used in a variety of industries and they also play a vital role in sustainable development by reducing energy consumption conserving our planet’s natural resources like water, forests and oil.

Synthetic is extensively used in treatment of water and waste water. The usage increases the effiiency of the treatment processes, reduces cost of chemicals required and produces smaller quality of compact sludge which can be drained / disposed easily. Synthetic helps in water clarification remove suspended and colloidal particles which may consist of clay and silt, color bodies, precipitated bought via their molecular weight (M.W) which is very high compared to inorganics chemicals.
